Ezio Celeschi was born in the province of Perugia (Italy) in 1952.
His love for fishing dates back several years since the days he was a small
child, when he started to visit the rivers of central Italy on the Appennini
chain and the high part of the Tevere to stalk trout.
He moved in Rimini in 1973 due to his job and he started to fly fish
and to tie flies at the beginning of the 80s.
He likes fly fishing in all its forms, in rivers, streams, lakes and sea.
He participates in several tying contests such as the Mustad Scandinavian
Open
(Silver Medal in the Saltwater category) and the World Tuscany Open with
good results.
In his searches for alternative materials he found a tape normally used by
plumbers,
a very tactile material but still with some characteristics that do not
perfectly
fit fly tying. Anyway , after several trials and with a proper
handling, he finally created the
Teflon fly (The Plumber’s Fly).
Many fly tiers try to reproduce effects and shades of the real insects.
Anyway it’s worth to remind that even if our flies are getting closer
and closer to the real, sometimes fish are still attracted by
impressionistic
or strange lures.
