Since Easter 2008 our Catchment Management Authority has stripped the section featured in this article of most of the willow trees.  In saying that there are still plenty of regions that hold a good population of willow, including the lower region of the Rubicon and the Goulburn River, so it will be a few years yet before the willow removal program kills off what could become a major tourism boost for this area.
