The Klinkhamer Special
The Pattern
Hook: Partridge K12ST, GRS15ST, 15BN, or 15BNX sizes 6 to 20
(The large sizes I use for Grilse, Arctic Grayling and Sea Trout)
Thread: Uni-thread 8/0, grey or tan for the body and
Danville Spiderweb for the parachute hackle.
Body: Extra fine Fly Rite poly dubbing No.19 or 20,
for the larger dressings like 8-16, for the more smaller sizes 18-20, I
mainly use Wapsi Super Fine waterproof dry fly dubbing, Light tan colour,
similar or any colour of choice to match the hatch.
Wing Post: Wapsi Poly-yarn for normal size and larger
flies, Niche silicone yarn for the smaller flies.
Thorax: Peacock herl, two or three strands depending
on the size of fly, the larger the size the more Peacock herl.
Hackle: Good quality cock hackle, long enough to
provide enough turns. Colour to combine well with the body. Blue
dun, chestnut brown or light ginger.
